Oh well. Again, you'll have to trust me that it looks a lot better than it did before. It needs another coat, so I'll post those pics next time.
Last night, Dustin started working on the banister around the stairwell. 25 years and this house has never had a banister around it! I'm so amazed no one has ever fallen down and broken their neck! (that I know of, maybe someone did??).
Anyway, my amazingly talented (and oh so sexy) hubby wowed me once again. Really, 11 years of marriage, over 4 houses he's built, OODLES of building projects he's completed, and he still has the power to wow me. I love it!!
I'm not sure I should blab his secret here - but, oh all right, you twisted my rubber arm. The wood he used is regular framing lumber! Since we plan to paint it anyway, we figured we'd save a few bucks and not spend retarded amounts on "walnut" or "maple". It will be painted black anyway, so who cares what the wood is?! And if it warps, well, it's only a couple bucks to replace it now.
A few of his work buddies were teasing him about being overly cheap - but they've all agreed his cheapness worked out here. It looks great!! He got one side done last night, and I'm hoping he'll get the other side done tomorrow night (he's got work stuff up tonight).
The side he did finish is the side that was the scariest because it's so narrow. And that's Brad's bedroom door in the corner, so I'm glad it's a little safer if Brad gets up in the night now!!
